Hiding Your Helm in Legion – The Starting Zone

Banner with human & orc confused level ones in front of the starting zone they begin in.

Good morning students, welcome to class! Oh, dear. Look at all these dreadful helms you are wearing. It’s no wonder you were choosing to hide them. I bet you are all interested in learning how to hide your helm using the new Transmogrification system, aye? Well, let’s get to it!

Locate a Transmogrification Vendor!

There is one in Stormwind and one in Orgrimmar, and they look like this:

This is one of the two NPCs available to remove your helm & other items.

Ask a guard for help with locating these.. ahem.. enterprising beings.

Removing Your Helm.

When you click on the Transmogrification vendor, a new window will appear, that has many improvements over the old menu.

Step one when taking the helm appearance off.

On the left side of the window, you can select which armor slot you would like to change the appearance of. Let’s do something about those eyesore helms you kids are wearing! Click on the “head” slot. All of the appearances you have unlocked for the head slot will appear on the right side of the window. The first option in the list is what to choose if you wish to “hide” your helm item.

Step two when taking the helm appearance off.

Yes, that’s much better! Well.. for most of you. Now, all that’s left is to click the “apply” button and pay the vendor! Yes, you must pay the fine lad for his services. Items in the twisting nether aren’t cheap, you know.

Hiding other pieces of armor.

With this new Transmogrification system,  you can no hide your shoulder and cloak gear as well! Simply repeat the steps we just went over, this time choosing either the shoulder or back slot on the left side of the window and wa-lah! Don’t forget to remove that helm, so all your eager faces can be seen!

Good Show! Now that I can see your bright and shining faces, eager to learn, let’s continue with the more lessons!

The Legion Glyph System – The Starting Zone

Banner with human & orc confused level ones in front of the starting zone they begin in.

Well, this is a right pickle, isn’t it, class? It seems that the Glyph Interface has disappeared! Don’t panic! Glyphs are still around, but they are used differently in the Legion expansion. Let’s remain calm, take our seats, and learn about how to use the new legion glyph system!

What Are Glyphs for?

Before Legion, glyphs were a way for players to modify how a spell works. They were available in “major” and “minor” varieties, and many of them granted players powerful benefits. In Legion, however, they are only found in one variety, and only add cosmetic effects to your spells. We will see an example of this a little later.

Obtaining a Glyph.

Glyphs are made by the good ladies and chaps who have the Inscription profession. You can find glyphs on the auction house, or perhaps a charitable Scribe can make one for you. Such nice folk, those Scribes. You will need to do some research outside of class to identify which glyphs are appealing to you.

Using These Glyphs.

Once you obtain a one, look for it in your bags. They look similar to this:

Now, open your spell book, and right click on the glyph. The spell that the glyph will affect will become highlighted in the spellbook,  as such:

Display of how the Heart of the Crusader glyph can be selected - part 1

Then, click on the spell, and the glyph will be consumed! The spell in your spellbook will now have a mark, indicating that it has been used.

Display of how the Heart of the Crusader glyph can be selected - part 2

Splendid! This spell now has a cosmetic effect! It will keep this effect until you apply a different glyph to it, should there be one available. Let’s take a look at what this glyph did:

A cosmetic glyph for paladins that adds a sparkle effect.

Remarkable! This one seems to have given the Paladin class mounts a sparkly glow! Paladins are always finding ways to get more attention!

You can glyph as many spells as you want, but you can only apply one to each spell. You can remove glyphs by applying Vanishing Powder to it, which is available at a reagent vendor. If you simply want to switch glyphs, just apply the new one to the spell, and the old one will be erased.

Tonight’s homework will be to discover which glyphs are a right fit for you and your character! Don’t forget to work on your other lessons!

The Steam Pools Resort – Off the Beaten Path

A trail rarely used on the Azerothian journey. Image shows a wild forest with a lone path with the words "Off the Beaten Path" luminated.

Hello there, Chester checking in!  In case you don’t already know who I am, I am a humble merchant that likes to travel the world and find all of those less traveled places to find little known bits to add to my collection.  At the fair you’ll see me selling my exotic wares, but here I’d like to tell you, fine adventurer, about places and items that you might not know about.  I will tell you about those things that are off the beaten path starting with the Steam Pools Resort.

Resort Relaxation

This trip I aim to make you aware of a charming little place where you can safely take that heavy armor of yours off, and get some much needed rest and relaxation.  Yes, indeed, there is a certain place known as the Steam Pools Resort that is, oddly enough, tucked away betwixt lands where few adventurers care to travel.  Very odd that it should be so hidden, given that the place is run and maintained by goblins.  The resort is well staffed and has everything you could want. Even a boat is on hand, although it doesn’t seem to do much moving about.  There’s even rumors of celebrity guests enjoying a stay.

Finding the Resort

You can find this resort along the border between Feralas and Silithus.

Map of Feralas, Kalimdor with an X where the resort is located in SE Feralas

Now usually the best way to reach it is to fly there, however if you really want to get there by foot, you most certainly can.  The path starts in Feralas near the cursed Darkmist Ruins (64.48/62.85).  Climb on up into the hills, making your way south until you reach a tree (65.00/66.31). Next, turn east and track through the rough landscape until you reach the beach. Swim across the lake and bam you’re there!  Here’s a photo of the trail for those of you who would like to visit the resort by hiking instead of flying.

Have you visited this resort? If not, go visit today and let us know what you thought about it!  Hope you have a great time and check out other places we’ve found off the beaten path!
